4. The Time Traveler's Wife, Audrey Niffenegger

Perhaps the only book I've ever read to make me openly weep in public. It's very well written, quite beautiful and very, VERY moving. Even the guys in our book club liked it.

The Stand, Stephen King

Actually very good; damned fine horror-fantasy. King may be prolific and some of it may be schlock, but when he's good, he's very good. And this is good. ^_^ Though I would recommend the first four books of the Dark Tower series instead. XDDD

I might try the Dark Towers series. My sister loooooves his stuff, but I tried reading a couple of his books (The Shining and Needful Things) and I just couldn't get into it.

I think I saw the TV miniseries The Stand. Nooooooooo!!!!

Pfft. There has yet to be a decent tv or movie adaptation of a King work. The Stand is a marvelous read.
