Indifferent to the Difference

Jan 07, 2008 18:25

Strangely indifferent to what I think I know and to what really is
There is no difference there
To my indifference
The falling star did not make it a perfect night
It was your smile that made everything right

The line of momentum following through to the next day
The path I’ve been pointed towards
For my whole life
Moving forwards is not the only way to get ahead
I step backwards-cut the thread

I am level-headed, calm, and coordinated
Yet I get caught up in emotions I inflict upon myself
The slowest moving fast person
The fastest moving slow person
Faces surround-some of them friends
They’ll be there
To the very end.

It’s not depression, it’s not a sadness
It is barely a guilt
More of a disappointment with myself
And the rest of the world
A difference in what I see and what really is.
Optimism died the day reality was born
Yet still it does not matter
There is no difference there
To my indifference

I continue on-sometimes fall behind-
(For there is more than one way to move forward)
But there are many paths
And I am not blind.
