The Angel of My Dreams (3857)
Swiftly does
The sorcery of the mansion
Was I to be taught
Its eternal damnation?
Water poured
From each and every faucet
Flooding manor’s top
As a payment for its debt
Warlock’s strength
Began ringing bells to make sound
Spell of undoing
Began to circle around
I watched in wonder as he worked his craft.
I, as apprentice, began making sounds-
For sounds, as he said, rippled the water
That poured out-flooding the top floor of the estate (yet did not leak out its walls or down its floors, it stayed only on the highest floor).
The movements of the water clarified his senses, for each ripple revealed to him a problem in this world:
Each wave, a cry for help.
But as his strength is limited, he must focus in on one sound, one problem, find exactly its source, stand up,
And heal it with all his might.
The world has too many issues,
The bells of sorrow, too many sounds.
The locker room was full of both genders and it took forever for me to change. I was hesitant to begin my physical education class, for I did not feel particularly strong this day.
My backpack was full of odds and ends,
And everything fell out.
The volleyball net I tried to put in-
Poles and all-
I soon realized was not mine, but the schools! Sheepishly I pulled it out and quickly worked to make sure
None had seen this error.
I took my clothes off in the middle of the room-
Boxers and all-
And stood there Naked for quite some time
Confused, I believe at this mixed-gendered room.
The gymnasium was full-
A curtain drawn across the courts to make it two rooms,
So I left to go outside.
The weather was nondescript:
An unnoticeable amount of sunlight
An unimportant number of clouds,
A breeze that steadily blew and
Did not change directions.
(If it was precipitating-no one knew.)
Amongst all of the activities, I desired to play football. I heard the coach yelling that their cuts weren’t tight enough
And the jolly redhead simply laughed.
I was drawn to the left-away from the players.
My friend K (both old and young),
Was standing by the see-saw
My name was called and I looked around
It came from atop the tower.
It was a tall climb and my tired arms wanted no more.
I reached the top-short of breath, and an
Angel
Sat before me
Her hair was straight and curly,
Blonde and brown,
Her eyes both dark and light.
Our eyes met for an instant
And that moment was forever
But yet still a moment.
It passed by too quickly
And was never long enough.
She was the entirety of my focus.
My chest heaved back and forth,
Yet I was not breathing and my heart not beating.
I had never seen her before
In all my days,
Yet I have known of her
My entire lifetime.
A jealous man sat behind her.
She smiled and broke the gaze.
A small boy-a little brother-
The one who had called my name, who knew of my reputation
(The darkness inside of me leads me to helping all that I can-righting every wrong I find to make up for the undeniable failure that I am.
Those who are good who do good-are nothing special.
Those who are innately greedy and selfish, those marked with darkness
Who try and help, who try to right wrongs, are those with heroic personality).
The little boy, after excitedly talking to me, decided to leave the tower.
I asked if he needed help, and he showed me
Another way down,
An easy route that even a child could take
The angry boyfriend of the Angel
Followed him, and the Angel
Said she would take up my offer of help, and handed me her jewelry to hold while she
Worked her way down the tower-
Down the most difficult climb
To test herself
Before I left to follow her I saw another ring
Atop the tower and assuming it hers
Grabbed it and followed her down with her jewelry in my left hand
I climbed down with ease one-handed:
Imbued with the strength of the Angel.
Before I could follow her,
I saw a throng of others standing aside the swing set
And a rogue but
Empty
Swing was swaying dangerously high
And could not be used until it was stopped.
Still holding the Angel’s jewelry
I leapt up to stop the swing at its lowest point, and had just missed it.
I failed my second try as well.
And the lady besides me told me: That it was of no use, the swing was forever lost.
I tried a different approach
And leapt up and spun reaching with my feet, that caught the base of the swing,
Slowing it just enough for another to grab it…
Community needs a hero-
Someone to stand up, take charge, and deal with problems.
Problem solved
I was drawn to return her rings
I settled myself
The great hope her jewelry brings!
I was lead to the pyramid which within it was the
Angel
And on my way I saw Friends
Both young and old, from my past and present, maintaining the same age they were when
I knew them
Yet playing amongst one another all the same:
A preschooler girl with pink stockings a college student in sweats-
K rode up to me in his bicycle as I neared the pyramid. He did a jump on a pile of dirt
And skidded to my feet.
“Goldie I saw you with a cute girl earlier, is that the girl with the boyfriend that you have a crush on?”
I tried to hush K, but I failed miserably. The Angel was in hearing range, but if she had heard-she made no reply. The boyfriend seemed angrier than ever.
“Well anyways, I think that Coach would approve,” K said as he rode off down the
Forest trail on his back wheel.
I gave her back her jewelry, and then for
A moment
I swore that we stood there hand in hand
And I blushed
And her eyes twinkled like stars on a clear night
Dazzling the earth with their light.
She lived in an enormous manor with three above ground floors and antique windows.
The angry boyfriend’s face began to change, a small goatee began to form on his face, his chin narrowed and his hair began to grow.
Her mother gasped-ran at her daughter
And wondered what she had done!
The mother explained how they were a
Family of old magik
And she had hoped she never would have had to tell
Her
The Angel said that she had made a wish
A silent one
And blushing looked over at me and the transforming angry boyfriend
She had wished her boyfriend was me
I turned the faucets of the top floor on, this spell must be undone!
Water flooded all around
And my clothes changed to a dark black cloak with a red undershirt.
The mother, being of old magik, was familiar with the spell of undoing, and began
Smashing windows.
The Angel looked up at me and smiled.
The ripples of the water tore through my soul, telling me of each and every problem within this world. They echoed within me, and it hurt like nothing else I had ever
Experienced before
But, today I could fix something and it gave me hope that
Problems can be solved
My eyes felt like they were going to bleed, my lungs gasped for breath, my heart fluttered, my skin was on fire
And then an Angel Held my hand
And my power was limitless
My strength infinite
And I knew I could do anything and help anyone.
