The scoop on what happened with Pedro the Lion breaking up.
Apparently it goes like this. Pedro the Lion was always David Bazan and whoever else he got to play on albums/live but then once TW Walsh started playing with him all the time the band became the 2 of them. Now it seems TW could not tour any more because he has a family and rock n roll is a hard life requiring you to be on the road all the time. So with TW gone Dave decided it would seem hollow/weird continuing playing under that name.
So basically, he's still doing shows and still recording and stuff, he's just doing it under the name David Bazan instead of pedro the lion. And he's still playing Pedro songs live too.
How do I know all this??
COS I SAW HIM PLAY LAST NIGHT! Oh yeah! I do believe you all just got PWNED!!!!!11 This makes up for not getting tickets to minus the bear.
Other good things recently:
+ I got from the show to the hostel where I stayed last night without getting stabbed by crack dealers.
+ The seattle underground tour is really neat. It seems they built seattle on this swamp and the govt decided to fill in the swamp with dirt so it would be more stable/not flooding. But all the business owners said they were not going to go away for 7 years while they did it, so the govt built retaining walls at the edge of each side walk and filled them in with dirt! Eventually they just built new sidewalks on top of the old ones, but the underground side walks still exist! it was cool.
Before they built the new sidewalk up top, they used to have to climb down to get into the shops by ladders!
+ the new cat power record is really good. It's keeping in the direction she started going with You are Free, so more light hearted and with a full band. I like this new direction. it's called the greatest but it's not a best of.
BAD stuff
- The green tortoise hostel. A bit grubby and my room had this radiator in it that made LOADS of noise ALL NIGHT... Like it sounded like the stuff inside it was BOILING... Plus it was super hot. I got to sleep about 4 am... Also I got up too late to get the free breakfast as a result of this. The cute girl at the desk did compliment my cat power t shirt though, but this was about the only good part about the place.
- American beer is bad. Budweiser BLECH! Miller BLECH! And Miller High life (the "champagne" of beers) BLECH!. The smaller breweries are much better, fat tire, red hook, mirror pond. And also imported beers are better too, so it's not all bad. But this country sucks at beer drinking compared to Australia.
- it is still raining pretty much every day here...
- now that i am alone I am starting to miss everyone even more! I swear I saw Jasper at the Bazan show, but it was not Jasper at all.
