Having seen, and dismissed as just OK looking, the trailer for Juno. My surprise was all the greater when Tea and I saw it. It's really a well done and thought provoking film. As cliche as that sounds. Well done as in: written well, acted well and shot well. Thought provoking due to it's content and the point of view it never really takes. The film, more of less, lets you decide if things came out alright.
It ends with everything working out, probably.
I'm pretty tired of the usual Hollywood movies using the same formulas. I didn't bother going to see Ironman. I knew the plot before I saw the trailer. Because it's the same story you see in any hero movie. The only thing that changes are the effects are better as they go along. Man discovers/ makes powers, villain has equal powers and after a battle where at the moment it looks like our hero is beaten, he digs down and defeats his nemesis.
Thankfully, Juno, brings us a well written script, zero special effects and a film that makes you think about it as you go along.
It's good to have a surprise that isn't disastrous for a change.
