Week 1

So my teacher told me to keep a weekly journal of MTV internship. So this is the first one.

Who knows what’s going on? That’s how I felt pretty much this first week. After all that I’ve experienced previously from interning with Fox Sports, I felt like a virgin when this internship actually began. Obviously there were many moments I had nothing to do and I was reading random trivia and news. The staff in my department, Series Development were also caught off guard. They haven’t had an intern in a while and so they weren’t use to being able to rely on someone else. That was the first day.
The second day was the business. That’s right. The business. It was that busy. When I came in, I had that first hour of idle time. I think it was because not everyone knew I was in yet. But once that second hour came tumbling by, I got the call. I was running errands left and right and it wasn’t until the end of the day that I spent some quality time at my cubicle. I was making dubs, running letters, and making moves. It was a great day. I love being busy so all that work was awesome.
It felt good to be able to talk to people that were relatively near my age and I eased up much easier than I thought I would. Throughout my four months at Fox Sports interning, I only felt comfortable near the end of the internship. At MTV, I already feel secure enough to joke around with the people around me. I don’t know if that’s a good thing or a bad thing but it’s comforting to know.
I’m hoping for more to come and if it continues to get better, I know that this path is definitely a career I’m looking forward to.
