Lost Memories Part 6
"Do you want to come with me to the store? I'm going to get Ianto a get well soon card or something." Jack slowly gets up of the ground.
"Look at you all domestic." Owen smiles.
"I'd get you a card to if you were sick." Jack smiles back.
Owen touches his heart. "I'm touched.” He laughs “Sorry but I didn't a card when I died did I?"
"I brought you back didn't I? I thought that was better than a card. but if you want I can get you one."
"And look where bringing me back took us too.” He laughs “I think we're past the card thing now."
"Your right.” Jack laughs a little “We are past the card. But do you want to come?"
Owen shakes his head. "Nah I think I'll go check out whats the sitch with the surgeons here."
"I'll be back in a couple minutes. Make sure he gets all the help he can get."
"Will do" Owen nods and walks away picking up his mobile.
Jack walks out of the hospital. It early morning and the sun is coming up. He walks down the street. Theres a small shop that's Open. Jack walks up to the store manager. "Hello, do you know what time it is?"
An old man looks up at Jack and smiles. "You not got a watch son ? the time is 8 am, how can i help you ?"
"Ah no... my boyfriend usually has the time.” he thinks “Only 8? thought it be later than that. Speaking of time... do you have any stop watches?"
The man looks through a couple of boxes. "Not too sure we're not normally asked for them." chuckles a little.
Jack sighs. "Do you have any coffee beans?"
The man frowns and laughs. "You are a strange one aren't you."
"You can say that.” Jack smiles “I'm looking for something to give my boyfriend."
He holds up his hand and smiles, "Your in luck I've just found a stopwatch” he pulls in up from behind the
counter and opens the box, to reveal a shiny silver stopwatch “Any good?"
"it's perfect. I hope he likes.” Jack takes out his wallet “Oh no....."
"Whats wrong son?"
"I forgot to change my money over. I have no Canadian money."
"What do you have instead?"
"Well I don't have that much money on me."
"How much have you got, I can probably do you a deal."
"I have exactly $3.50 on me Canadian. I also have..” he looks through pockets “......I have this." Jack pulls out a blank piece of paper.
The man frowns a little. "whats that?"
"It's psychic paper. whatever you want to see will appear on it."
The man shakes his head. "I tell you what. You keep your paper and I'll take the $3.50, its better than nothing i suppose business hasn't been that good around here lately."
"Thank you, sir. By the way my name is Captain Jack Harkness. It was nice to meet you." Jack hands the $3.50 to the man.
He nods and gives Jack the stop watch. "Thank you just don't tell the wife yeah, have a good day."
Jack walks out of the store and back to the hospital. He walks to the front desk. "I was wondering if you can tell me where Doctor Owen Harper is."
A nurse nods, "hes in with the doctors helping out in threatre at the moment."
"Is there anyway I could wait for him near the theater?"
"Sorry its a restricted area. the only thing I can suggest is that you stand or sit near Mr. Jones' room."
"Is he out of surgery?"
"Not yet no."
"OK"
Jack walks towards Ianto's room. he sits down in the chair. he finds the picture Ianto had given him. He set it up on the bedside table.
Jack starts mumbling to himself "I'll call Tosh and Gwen."
Jack picks up the phone and waits for Gwen to answer.
Gwen picks up her phone. "Hey Jack, guess what we found it." Gwen laughs.
"Good job you guys." Jack says very depressed into the phone.
"Thanks, “ she calms down a little “Jack whats wrong?"
"I have some bad news about Ianto."
"oh no Jack” She starts to cry “don't tell me hes.."
"no... They ran scans on him and ultrasounds. In his stomach he has a tumor. He stopped breathing. They rushed him into an emergency operation. Owens there right now." Jack is trying the best he can not to cry.
"oh no jack I'm so sorry.” She cries a little and then tries to calm down “Do they know if hes going to be OK?"
"They don't. but I'd really appreciate it if you and Tosh came back to the hospital." Jack starts crying.
Gwen sniffs a bit. "OK Jack we'll start making our way back."
"Tell Tosh. I'll see you when you get." Jack Hangs up the phone and stares at the picture. "You have to make it Yan."
A couple of minutes later Jack hears Owen coughing in the background. "hey." he says gloomily.
"Is he okay?" Jack sniffs.
Owen nods. "Yeah. they've just managed to get him stable and they're finishing of the operation, god I forgot what it was like in the operating theater."
Jack gets up and hugs Owen.
He starts crying harder. "Thank you Owen."
Owen sighs and hugs Jack. "Trust me, if I could cry I would of cried a lot too today."
Jack smiles. "I know you would.” he Sighs “Tosh and Gwen are on their way."
Owen nods and looks round the corner. "OK we've gotta move out of here and then we can come back in a

"OK. We can meet Gwen and Tosh in the parking lot."
They walked out of Ianto's room.
Owen stops jack from walking off too far and pulls him back slightly. "jack its Ianto"
"What about him?"
Owen points to the hospital bed that is being wheeled down the corridor. "hes back"
The nurses wheel him past Jack and Owen and they see him with tubes coming out of his mouth and a drip coming from his arm, the other doctor calls us into the room. "Mr. Harkness." the doctor shouts trying to find out who Jack is.
"I'm Jack Harkness."
The doctor smiles slightly. "Do you wanna come in, and we can talk about Mr Jone's condition"
"sure." Jack walks into the room with the doctor.
Owen walks in too.
The doctor makes Jack and Owen sit down.
"OK as you know we did the scans that we needed to do and we found quite a bit tumor inside Mr Jone's stomach, he then crashed on us.” the doctor nodded slightly at Jacks confused face “ it basically where the patient doesn't breath for along time, anyway we managed to stabilize the breathing and remove the tumor, now we don't know if there was. anything that may has been spreading with the tumor but we've sent the tumor off to one of our labs. Hes going to have to stay here for a while, we've keeping him incubated for the moment just because we don't want to risk him crashing on us again”the doctor smiled a little “any questions?"
"Will he be OK for the time being?"
"Hes still classed as critical at moment because of his breathing but I think if he makes it through tonight then he got some good chances."
"Can I see him now?"
The doctor nods. "he won't respond to u for a while but thats normal."
"OK" Jack stands up and holds Owens hand as they walk into Ianto's room.
Owen looks at jack and smiles. "You OK?"
"ya I'm fine." Jack flashes a fake smile.
We walk on either side of Ianto's bed. He gently touch his pale face. "Hi Yan......"
Owen checks the drip rates and the incubation tubes the doctors have put into Ianto
Jack sits down in the chair next to Ianto's bed.
He gently holds Ianto's hand.
"The girls should be here soon. I forgot to tell them what room number he's in. Can you go get them?"
"They'll ask at reception." Owen starts to adjust the drip rate for Ianto
"OK" Jack just stared down at Ianto. he started mumbling. "Oh, Yan.....please wake up."
"He won't be awake for a few hours yet jack."
"I know. I just want him awake now."
The girls walked into the room.
Gwen walks up and cuddles Jack.
"Hows he doing?"
"He just got out of surgery" Jack hugs back.
"Did they say what had happened?"
"They said that he crashed during the operation. they were able to save him. they removed the tumor. They
don't know if its going to spread through the rest of his body."
Gwen hugs Jack again. "Oh jack I'm so sorry"
Jack hugs Gwen. "I just hope he gets better.” Jack smiles “So how does the new Torchwood base look?"
Gwen frowns and wrinkles nose. "Lets just say you can imagine why it went missing."
"As soon as Ianto wakes up, we can go check it out. He's staying here over night. I'll stay with him while you
Tosh and Owen check into a hotel."
Owen nods and looks at Ianto. "Sorry mate I think hes going to be in here longer than just tonight."
"How long is he going to stay then?"
Owen shrugs. "Probably a couple of days or a week or so."
Jack looks down at Ianto. Jack brushes his hand through his hair. "I'm sorry Ianto....."
Gwen puts a hand on Jack's shoulder. "Jack its not your fault."
Jack sighs. "Just like you said before. Not my fault. But it is. I was off looking for my doctor leaving everyone
behind for what I wanted."
Ianto coughs a little.
Owen rushes over and tilts up Ianto's head so his airways are clear. "His head slipped letting the tube in deeper into his throat, sometimes that happens if the throat becomes loose."
Jack nods. "How long will he be on the machines?"
"By the looks of it a few hours, if his throat is already becoming loose this early thats a good sign."
"Thats good” Jack smiles “I know hes going to be OK."
Owens nods and sighs.
A few hours later and everyone has fallen asleep in the room, when Ianto starts to stir a little. "ja.." he can't
speak properly because of the tubes, he starts to choke on them.
Jack looks up. "Owen, Owen wake up!"
Owens not in the room but he comes running in and starts pulling the tube out of Ianto's throat. "shit” he
struggles a little “sorry Ianto this is going to hurt." He pulls the tube.
Ianto's breathing is heavy. "Jack.....What happened?"
Owen stops him from sitting up. "Mate stay still OK. If not your gonna pull out your stitches."
Ianto nods. "What happened?" He says in a whisper.
Jack places a hand on Ianto's shoulder and smiles. "They um, found a tumor thing in your stomach. but
don't worry they took it out."
"Ianto just stares at Jack. "Your joking, right?"
Jack shakes his head and smiles. "I wish I was."
Ianto sighs. "am i going to be OK now?"
Jack smiles. "hey you got me dontcha?" Jack tries to keep on smiling but it fades.
Ianto looks at Gwen,Tosh and Owen. "Do you mind leaving me and Jack alone for a bit?"
They all nod and leave the room.
Jack looks at Ianto and frowns. "Whats wrong?"
"I don't really know where to begin."
Jack holds Ianto's hand. "Just tell me everything I will listen, not like I used too."
"Jack, I knew about the tumor. I didn't want to tell you to get you worried. I should have told Owen when i first found out. but i didn't. I didn't want to ruin the trip for all of us. I'm so sorry. I should have told you." A tear
escapes Ianto's eye. He looks down, unable to meet Jacks blue eyes.
Jack puts his hand under Ianto's chin and guides his face to look up into Jacks that is now trying. "Ianto you should of told me, and I'm sorry I ever left you."
"I know i should have but I didn't know when. I was finally going to tell you, but you left. and its not your fault you didn't know. I should have told you earlier."
"No i should of never left, its my fault."
"Jack its my fault."
"No its not." Jack kisses Ianto. "I promise I won't leave again."
Ianto kisses Jack back. "i love you Jack.” Ianto quickly looks at the table “Thanks for putting the picture up."
Jack smiles at Ianto and pulls out a box from his pocket and smiles at Ianto. "i got you this."
Ianto Takes it from Jacks hand. and opens the box. "Jack its beautiful."
Jack smiles at Ianto "I almost traded my psychic paper for that but i don't think the guy believed me when I said what it could do." Jack laughs a little.
Ianto laughs. "I hardly believed you when you told me. until our names came on the paper.
Jack looks down and smiles. "Ianto if I said do you want to be in a partnership what would you say?" Jack blushes slightly.
"I would say yes" Ianto smiles.
Jack looks up from the floor and smiles. "Really? You would? You will?"
"Yes Jack i will. If your asking."
Jack stutters a little and then takes the stopwatch from Ianto and gets down on one knee laughing a little.
"Ianto David Jones.. will you do me the honor, of keeping me on this planet and becoming my partner?"
Ianto has tears running down his face from happiness. "Yes Jack Harkness. I will."
Jack kisses Ianto's forehead as Jack cries. "now you've gotta stay with me. cos after your out of here, we're having a wedding."
"I'll never leave you jack, as long as I live. were going to get married here, in Canada right?"
"We can do that. if thats what you want."
"I want to get married here, as soon as I'm out of the hospital."
Jack has the biggest ever smile on his face. "wow I'd love that."
"Can you bring Tosh Gwen and Owen in here so we can tell them?"
Jack nods and goes and grabs them all bringing them in.
Jack raises his eyebrows. "You wanna tell them?"
"Sure." Ianto Sits up just a little bit. "Well we have some good news.” Ianto Smiles at Jack “Were getting
married."
Gwen claps her hands and squeals a little. "oh my gosh thats great news."
"As soon as i get out of the hospital were going to have the wedding."
Gwen squeals more and hugs jack. "Wow thats so great you guys"
Ianto looks down at his watch. "11:28 on Wednesday December 10th." Ianto looks at jack and smiles.
Jack smiles back at Ianto and holds his hand.
Tosh whispers into Gwen's ear. "Time to go shopping for them."
Gwen smiles. "Yeah. what the hell do we get them?"
"We'll figure it out."
