It's done. It was difficult, but I think I did really well. Seven programmers asked me eight problems. I more or less nailed most of them, but hung up on a few of them and needed some pointers/hints, but in the end I felt pretty good about how all of them turned out. I think they'll offer me a job; I just hope they offer to pay me good money.
The place is neat; there's lots of interesting programming and plenty of room for advancement; there are massive project completion bonuses. The only downside to switching, I think, is that my annual vacation days drop from 24 to 10 and my sick leave from 25 to 6. (UIUC's leave is bloatedly broken.) On the flip side, Volition has more vacation days than UIUC by 5 or 6, and when I leave my 30+ cashed vacation days get paid out cash by UIUC.
They promise that I will hear back with an offer within a week, so expect a further update soonish.
In short: yay!
