Rawlins WY KOA - WINDY as all get out.
We were only on the road about 7 hours today - not too bad. Started in Colorado Springs, went north to Denver, north to cheyenne, WY then west to Laramie and now in Rawlins. Stopped in Buford, WY for gas - elevation 8000 feet, population 2. No kidding. Good gas prices though. Did you know there is a Sinclair Wy? there is a Sinclair refinery there. hm. Did I mention taht it is windy in Wyoming? My contacts are dried out.
The mountains across Wyoming have been beautiful. Green in places, brown in others with snow capped peaks in the highest places. At the highest altitude we were 8500 feet - WOW. Across the plains from us we could see mountains that were even higher. I think on the map I saw where the elevation was around 12,000 feet. I saw some deer or antelope, it was hard to tell because they were kind of far away. Also saw what appeared to be wild horses. There are supposed to be about 1700 roaming around the desert here, maybe we will see some more tonight.
Fireworks otnight at 10. Don't know if I can stay awake that long. Think I will stay in out of the wind. Cable tv, full hook ups, heated pool that's freezing cold, what more could a girl ask for?
oh, a hot bath.
