Friday - Colorado Springs Colorado

Ah, the non-humidity cool mountain air. It's about 80 here, breezy and with low humidity I am actually enjoying sitting outside watching the kids ride their bikes. I can't see them now but the Rocky Mountains were beautiful this morning as we were driving into Colorado Springs. Jenna noticed right away that there is still snow in places, not too much though. It was very windy on our way from Limon but here it isn't too bad.

However, there are no trees. Something to have to get used to again I suppose. Jeff and I were talking about that this morning how we are going to have to get used to houses with NO trees at all except the tiny ones planted when they were built. It's kind of weird. There are a lot of rock yards here, because of there being so little water and the grass is different. It's finer and soft to walk in. And a person can see forever, kind of like Gardendale in the winter but even different than that because there is a clear view forever. I am sitting in the driveway and can see houses that are forever away from here.

And did I mention that there is no humidity? Which is good for somet things, but I suppose that when my nose starts to dry out and crack I will miss the humidity.

Jorie loved seeing all the horses and cows on the way here. There were a lot of ranches on our way into town today. The day before yesterday we even saw some wild horses. We will see more as we go through Wyoming and that will make for some excitement in the car. Our current favorite toys are the Travel size Light Brights I bought the girls a couple of days ago. Only problem with them is that the pegs are so small and Jayna dumped hers almost immediately. We will probably be picking up light bright pegs for the for the next year or so. Oh well, keeps her quiet.

The kids have watched Chitty Chitty Bang Bang about 5 times and their new favorite is Herbie Rides Again. They watched Shrek today - Jenna looks forward to the end when Fiona and Shrek get married - that's her favorite part. Strawberry Shortcake has been a hit too - the girls always comment on how one of the girls talks so fast.

Guess that's all for today. We are going to see Jeff's cousin Gina and her family tonight. They are missionaries with Navigators which used to be or might still be part of Campus Crusade for Christ. The are starting a new ministry at the Air Force Academy here and it will be interesting to hear about what work they are doing for the Kingdom. I hope to get to go to Focus on the Family headquarters tomorrow. We will have to see. I will let you know.
