today I saw Ted Leo and the Obits and Screaming Females (who I possibly get to see again for freeee at Strawberry Fest, hooray!) who were all surprisingly good. I realised that the only time I come out of a concert happy when I've gone alone is when I go to see Ted Leo. I've since decided that if I do somehow by chance find myself a boy, my two stipulations are that he have a borderline-homosexual love for Ted Leo and have a fantastically sarcastic sense of humor. but yeah the best moment of the show was probably when Ted started rambling on about how it was so awesome that so many people were still there for him after two awesome bands (so modest), because he said if it were him, he would have stayed for those two and then at that point would have been like, screw this I'm going home to watch four episodes of SVU. and then he went on a big long tangent about how all the people on SVU used to be somebody, like that guy who's the captain, and Ice-T, who used to actually be relevant in the world of hip hop. he also mentioned under his breath that he saw it like twice and feels like he's seen them all, BUT STILL. I laughed until I cried as he kept going on and on about it.
I'm pretty sure every time I see him, I come away with a new appreciation for a different song. this time I realised that Me and Mia is amazingggg. he also played Counting Down the Hours, Under the Hedge, Bottle of Buckie, Colleen, Biomusicology, and Timorous Me. so many tied for omg best but I love the way he does Timorous Me when he's doing a solo encore and the rest of the band comes out in the middle of the song. I think he's only done that one other time, when I saw him at the Middle East. SO GOOD.
