Do you make friends easily? Why/why not?
I don’t really make friends easily. You have to be able to trust people to do that. And trust and easily are not words that go together with me.
There are actually very few people I truly consider friends.
Garret. He’s been beside me through hell and back. No doubt we’re friends.
Nigel. I know he’s got my back.
Paul. Even though we don’t have that much in common, I know I can count on him.
And…that’s about it.
Common thread? Time and the being beside me no matter what. No matter how big of a bitch I may be at times, they still are there for me and have been through years of knowing each other. Oh, they’ll call me on it no doubt. But they don’t just abandon me because I don’t fit into their little image of what I should be. They accept me warts and all. And I accept them warts and all.
Doesn’t always make things easy or comfortable. But…
Those are about the only people I truly consider my friends. Other than that…it’s more an acquaintance or co-worker thing. Friendship has to be earned with me. And that involves trust. And that involves time.
