21 1/2 inches

Short birth story:
I woke up last Thursday morning with some cramping but didn't really think much of it. They hadn't gone away by noon and I told Robin what was happening on my way back from picking up lunch from Mcdonald's. She told me that she'd call the hospital and see what they say, no harm in doing that. I watched some TV and ate my fast food, then called and told a nurse what was going on. She told me that I could go in if I wanted to and they could set me up to monitors to see what was going on. I called Taylor to tell him but told him to stay at work because I really figured I would be sent home. When I got hooked up, they saw that I was having contractions and told me to stay until 6 to speak with the DR on call. By 6, Taylor had come up to be with me and I was starting to actually feel the contractions. Uncomfortable!
At 6 PM, the Dr came in and told me that I could stay and that at 10Pm they would check to see if I'd made any progress and that they would probably induce me in the early morning to deliver on Friday. For the next four hours, my contractions got worse and worse and worse. I tried to keep as calm as possible and Taylor and I watched TV and kept it light. At 10PM, a nurse came in to check if I'd dilated anymore from the 2cm I came in at. I had progressed to a 3 and while in the process of checking, she accidentally broke my water. It officially freaked me out and from there on- everything happened real quickly.
My contractions got crazy bad in the next thirty minutes but then were saved by an epidural. The epidural wasn't too bad, just kind of creepy feeling the pressure of the tubing going in your back. Yikes. The drugs took effect immediately and I was told to try to nap until 3AM when they would check me again to see my progression. Taylor successfuly napped on and off while I felt the contraction pressure constantly. At 3AM, I was feeling pretty awful and when the nurse checked me, I had gone from a 3CM to a 9CM and Harper had officially dropped- all within 3 1/2 hours. After seeing what was going on, the nurse decided I could start pushing.
Taylor took one leg and the nurse took the other and for about 20 minutes, I did some pushing. At the end of that, Harper's head could be seen and the nurse told me to stop and wait for the Doctor. Pressure was insane! Doctor came in, the same DR that had seen me earlier, and said he was very surprised that I was already where I was. Yessss! I pushed 9 times and Harper was out! Seriously, a million times easier than I thought it would be. Amazing!
She was placed on my chest right away and that was that- Taylor and I were officially in love!
