Okay, so you can find everything for show-'n'-tell today
here, but in particular, I put together
some instructions on how to assemble these models, with photos.
To save some of the clicking trouble, and so I have something colorful to put in my LJ, a sample photo:
My only regret, really, is that a lot of the high-detail "painting" I put into this was kind of a waste: I drew different figureheads for the ships as semi-defined figures, and they came out as rough blobs. Ditto can be said for most of the deck details; I don't know what the actual resolution of my color printing is at, but it's sure not at the same level as my black-and-white printing.
In other, unrelated news, Gwendel introduced me to a new anime series currently broadcasting in Japan (so recent that the events of this anime start in September, 2007, eh?) called "Ghost Hound." It seems to have nothing to do with hounds at all, but something to do with ghosts. I don't know how the series is going to turn out, but Gwendel informs me that it's put together by the same folks who did Serial Experiment Lain, and Keno no Tabe. It feels more like the former than the latter, in terms of mood, visual effects, and storyline ... though I am holding out hope that this storyline may seem a little more coherent than the final episodes of Lain. If nothing else, I knew right from the start that, no matter how bizarre the story might get, this series is interesting enough just to look at. As of this writing, fansubs up to episode 2 are presently available on sites like
Anime Suki and so forth. I just hope that the fansubbers can finish the series before it gets licensed in the US; I have a pretty good idea that's going to happen eventually, given the production quality so far.
