I am a ridiculous person
I'm missing pretty much everything I should have, I have far less in my checking account than I thought, I have not managed to find a subletter, nothing takes credit cards, and there are about a million things I have to buy here I cannot afford :/ still. We don't start teaching until Monday. Then we'll at least have breakfast and lunch provided. Continue to be cautiously optimistic that this wasn't my worst plan ever.
The apartment is nice tho! I should write about that, huh? I mean there's four of us to a room and we sleep on mats and only 3 of us have shown up so far. But there are two (!!) balconies with gorgeous views. We're located right outside one of the refugee camps and we'ee on the 4th floor. It resembles a middle eastern gothic mansion because there's these rough steps in the dark we must walk up first to get to the apartment.
Edit: further comment (didn't have Internet when I wrote the above entry this morning) things are going better. It's really just the lack of having the correct things and people talking about moms, boyfriends, and schools (my 3 worst topics) and the lack of Arabic. But there's a lot of things that are good. I really like the apt and the Lebanese people are extremely kind and it's very alive and beautiful. I'm staying more optimistic than this entry might indicate, it's just I have nowhere else to write my doubts.
