Iran and Syria Seize Lebanese Capital

As should be well-known, Hezbollah is largely a front for Iran and Syria, so what has basically happened here is that the Iranian-Syrian axis has just captured most of the capital city of a US ally. The Lebanese Army displayed incredible ineptitude and weakness, being afraid to even try to stop Hezbollah. Lebanon's government offered a compromise, which Hezbollah of course rejected, seeing the prize of total power within its grasp.

Obviously, either America, Israel, or an alliance of the two are going to have to save Lebanon, or Lebanon is going to become once again a de facto Syrian possession. Syria, for her part, has always claimed that Lebanon was historically Syrian, so I think I know how this would play out.

I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop.
