Per snopes, 7-11 quit distributing Citgo gas after their contract expired in 9/2006. Likewise, Petro Express, which is headquartered in North Carolina, announced in October of '06 that they would phasing out Citgo gas, and by 2007 would no longer be hawking Chavez's wares.
The bit about the Kalashnikov plant is true, but they've been manufacturing AKs in Venezuela for quite some time. Around 100,000 have been produced so far.
And, speaking of Putin, if you really want to see someone who knows how to handle Islamic terrorists, check out Putin's OMON forces.

I also checked this out with Snopes about a month ago when I received this information in a chain e-mail. To briefly summarize what pithhelmet has said: Petro Express is NOT Citgo gas stations re-named. In fact, Petro Express is one of the gas stations that should be SUPPORTED because of their commitment to not selling Venuzuelan gas.
Jordan, you have heard the one about the NYC blonde/Paris Hilton wannabe who named her pee-all-over-the-floor yapping dustmop lapdog "Hugo Chavez", haven't you? Tres chic!
BTW, if we really want to screw over the Communists and the terrorists in the Middle East, why aren't we getting busy and inventing alternative fuels that don't require oil?
Then we could go tell the Middle East to go pound sand next time they demand something unreasonable.

It's called "uranium." We have rather a lot of it. Loonies are preventing us from using it.
And the way you use it for motorcars is to power the cars with fuel cells, and recharge them with electricity originating from a nuclear power plant.

I'm writing a paper on alternative energy, specifically nuclear energy, and I need three sources so if you know any sites I would be tremendously thankful if you shared them with me.

That's interesting, because it seems to me that most of my local 7-11s still have Citgo signage...
