"This is the most abundant element in the world." -- I think it's iron, not salt water (which isn't an element in any case).

Actually, I said "substance" and "on the Earth's surface." Saltwater is a "substance" (specifically a mixture of the compound "water" and various dissolved mineral salts), and it is the most common substance on the surface.

Depends if you count mass or molarity. Iron barely leads oxygen for mass-composition of the Earth, followed by silicon and magnesium; oxygen will rule if you count the number of atoms (and is the third most common element in the universe, followed by carbon. This is why spacefaring civilizations should never have a water shortage.)
