The next thing would be to forward a copy of it to Facebook Legal, reporting it as an apparent phishing/identity theft attempt. I would do this whether or not my investigations showed the attempt came from Facebook. If it appears that some scammer is using this as a scam attempt, well, that's something that Facebook should know about, as it will reflect badly on them... and they have the legal budget to retaliate, if they choose to do so. And if it's just Facebook trying to harvest that information for whatever purpose, well, it's a not-so-subtle poke in their collective eye.
And then, just because I tend to be rather vindictive myself, I would file a complaint, forwarding the communication as evidence, with the FBI - this is potentially identity theft, and as it goes through the internet, it's automatically a crime committed across state lines, giving the FBI jurisdiction. Probably nothing would come of it, but then, if a file is opened, some suit at Facebook may well have to deal with an uncomfortable interview. It's the little thoughts like that bring a warm, vicious grin to my face...
