Are there any people there you would keep in touch with if Facebook disappeared tomorrow?
Would your life be improved if you weren't spending time getting caught up in the petty drama Facebook generates on a semi-regular basis? (I'm going off what other people say here, I had Facebook for five minutes, ten or so years ago and decided it wasn't for me.)
When I had Facebook it was to keep up with a bunch of people from high school I had lost contact with over time. After a couple of months I recalled why I wasn't even swapping Christmas cards any more. I had nothing in common, other than a shared
youth, but that wasn't enough. I posted my email address and requested anyone who wanted to keep up share theirs. The response was pretty underwhelming.
So I left, and I have no regrets.
By the way, the comparison between what Zuckerberg and the rest of the big social media platforms (including Google) and Max Headroom is one I have made myself. I find it a bit scary how right on the nose they were about the invasive nature of corporate media.
