9-11 Quarter To The Foe, 2014 Edition

Sep 11, 2014 07:16

We are now going back to war in the Mideast.  President Obama has hedged his war message with all sorts of nonsensical promises and all-too-likely to be true caveats which will probably make this war an abortive one.  The one piece of good news to keep in mind is that every Muslim Terrorist we kill will stay dead -- they won't spring back to life and do happy little dances before resuming their atrocities just because someone complains that they were killed unfairly.

Obama claims that we won't have "boots on the ground."  This is a fantasy on his part, and it's also a lie -- we're sending several hundred military "advisors" into Iraq.  Their main role will probably be training, but they almost certainly will see some combat.  I don't know the extent to which this lie is self-delusion on Obama's part -- he's one heck of a dumbass, and he may well imagine that his Mighty Presidential Will can just make it so "By the Power of My Well-Creased Pants!" (cue Magical Girl Transformation sequence).

Obama does not seem to grasp that he can't simply decree the scope of a war.  If we're fighting ISIS, then ISIS will be trying to attack our assets.  This includes the military advisor in Iraq, the ships offshore in the Gulf and Med, and maybe your daughter Mary when she goes down to the mall the day the ISIS shi'haid (term for a Muslim martyr) decides to do his jihad at that mall.  The Presidency does not give Obama control over all sidereal reality, something that five years in office has still not enabled him to grasp.

Obama's shyness of casualties will both tempt ISIS into aggressive raiding actions and make it likely that Obama's phase of the war will be a failure.  I understand the emotional appeal of the fantasy that it is possible to fight and win a war without taking losses -- but that's simply not how reality works.  Unless the war is very tiny and short, one will suffer personnel killed, wounded and captured by the foe.  I admit to some schadenfreude watching Obama being bound by the absurd concepts of "unacceptable losses" his Democratic Party invented in 2001-2009 just to pick on Bush, but I'm not really happy to consider that a man who believes in them will be leading our nation into war.

Finally -- and getting back to the title of this article -- you're going to hear soon about the horrible suffering of the poor widdle ISIS troops and all the poor widdle civilians who will die in our attacks.  Just remember this:

How well did Al Qaeda take care of the hundreds of civilians they took prisoner in the jets of 9-11.  Were they allowed Red Cross visits?  Were they treated humanely?  Have they been released alive and unhurt?  Are they likely to be any time soon?

Al Qaeda on 9-11 gave us free and fair warrant to treat them, and any of their sympathizers, with as much brutality as we find useful and effective, or simply amusing.  All this talk of humane treatment of Muslim Terrorists is so much twaddle.  One is not obliged to treat a foe better than he treats oneself.

And ISIS is composed of the Al Qaeda members who were too brutal for Al Qaeda.
