In "
He Kept Us Out of War",
bdunbar sarcastically said with regards to Syria:
We gonna have us a war!
Been awhile since we had one of those. It's like what, a year, since we blew up Libya with our air force?
Well parder: that is too long.
To which I replied:
Given that Assad permitted terrorists to pass through Syria en route to attack Americans and Iraqis in Iraq, I have a total lack of sympathy for the Assad regime. And, if what replaces them is worse, it just means that we get to ream Syria twice in a decade or so. Live-fire practice time for the US Navy and Air Force, boo hoo for the Syrians.
which expression so horrified
bdunbar that he banned me, saying
Your cheerleading death, destruction, and de facto shredding of the Constitution has worn me down. You're banned. Don't let the door hit you on the way out.
entirely missing the point that Syria had actually, by letting terrrorists through to Iraq to attack Americans and Iraqis, been fighting a war against us -- I'm glad that we may finally be fighting back. But then, he is a
bdunbarof Very Little Brain, and he may have been hitting some slightly-fermented hunny.
Anyway, bdunbar missed the rest of my point too, which was expressed by me in these terms:
Hey, you know the really funny aspect of this all? Obama came to power probably thinking that he was going to be the best-buddy of those nicely radical Third World regimes, and so far he's been utter death on those regimes and has spread destruction throughout the Third World. If his intent was just to see a lot of Arabs turned into fertilizer, he couldn't have done it better, short of ordering a massive nuclear strike against all the cities of the Arab world!
which I think is quite true. Obama has professed himself a friend of the Arab world, but -- by deeply misunderstanding the actual nature of Arab politics, and encouraging the Arab Spring, he has set the Arab world up for a bloodletting which is likely to dwarf that of the Napoleonic Wars, and may approach the death toll of World War II in magnitude, if everything goes wrong. Which just goes to show that good intentions mean nothing, if one does not understand reality.
Which is the main reason I find the situation funny.
P.S.
bdunbar, if you want to comment on this you'll have to do "anonymous" and be screened, since when you banned me from your journal, you also logically banned yourself from my journal. I'll let you respond to this post, since it explicitly concerns your journal, you can even indicate your identity in the text. Anonymous comments are screened, thanks to
yamamanama, but I'll publish them as long as they aren't abusive or threatening (unlike
yamamanama's).
P.P.S.
"Shredding of the Constitution?"
bdunbar, Syria started this war, back under Dubya, when they started letting terrorists into Iraq. Obama's just finishing it -- and Presidents have fought small wars of this sort without declaration all the way back to the
Whiskey Rebellion and the
XYZ Affair! Which is to say, the late 1700's!!!
