" it takes nerve to volunteer to act as a human shield, and make “Jewish-settlement” one indivisible word. That was the most astounding, courageous, and utterly despicable tactic ever invented in modern warfare, to use unarmed women and children as annexation and occupation forces, daring your opponent to fire on them while “the whole world is watching.”

Oh. my. word.

No.

Not in the slightest.

It does *not* take "courage" for a man to place innocent women and children in front of himself in hopes that they'll be slaughtered in order to give him a reason to hate the people he's fighting.

The last thing it takes is courage to have the unarmed, vulnerable members of your society pushed out in front to take the brunt of the war that you yourself have declared, to risk their lives, not yours, their limbs, not yours, their blood and pain, not yours, in payment for the strike that *you* made on your enemy's innocent, unarmed women in children.

Despicable it is indeed, and dehumanizing for everyone, but mostly for you.

On the other hand, Israeli forces have responded to this by holding their fire. Bombers seeking to destroy the people who have been firing rockets at Israeli kindergartens have aborted their runs if they see families on the roofs of nearby houses. That is courage, true courage... when you refuse to fire, when you acknowledge the humanity of your opponents' vulnerable and innocent members of society, even at your peril.

The tactic was only "astounding, courageous, and despicable" in that it showed the astounding courage of the Israeli forces and the despicable mindset of the Palestinian Arab terrorists.

I could never, ever, ever praise any group who pushes babies out in front of armed terrorists in hopes that the babies be killed instead.
