My son was bullied in middle school and what no one knew is that he had been taking Kung Fu for almost 6 years. We went- numerous times- to the principal and admin to the point of writing e-mails. It was always the same "Well- no one has caught X bullying anyone" and we were livid when we pointed out thats what bullies do- hide it from authority

It was ludicrous. Six year old girl vs BIG 14 year old boy.
I kicked the bleep out of his shins when he pulled me off of the jungle gym and started winding up.
He was going to be let off on emotional problems, and I was going to be expelled. Yay for a mother that is a force of nature, and a reporter grandmother whose dad once owned most of the county.
Yeah, that was a problem at my school. A $1000 fine for fighting, and if the other kid had rich parents or parents on the PTC or was on the football team (provided they were winning; nobody cared about a team full of losers!)? It didn't matter if he'd jumped you in full view of hall monitors, punch back and you were nailed.
Good for you! Welcome to the Mothers from Hell Club. I think introducing a lawyer into the mix automatically qualifies you, though there are other ways to be admitted. I was fortunate that our attorney was a family friend who accepted his payment in Einstein's bagels and coffee.
Unfortunately, in my "inner city" experience, the (so-called) parents who had the gumption to "buck the system" were mostly the ones whose children were the bullies. And, of course, the bureaucrats mostly caved at once.

That's true. In the inner city, being a bully confers real Darwinian advantages, like, for instance, survival, whereas being a victim doesn't. For which reason, God help the kids growing up there, because only God could.

I was, abd that was the proverbial straw that broke the camel's back, prompting my parents to take the four of us out of public schools.
