She is old, and she is a leftist. She has allowed herself to be mentaly polluted with the ideas of those around her, and she chose to echo them.
I've posted on the nature of faith and belief and how we are wired for it, and how we have a need for it, and how religion is something that can fill up those neurons and defend them against other bad irrational beliefs.
I've known several very nice people who happened to be democrats/liberals and they would spout in a similar way.
They had let themselves be infected by exactly this irrational bigotry.

IIRC, that would have been the Empire of Babylon in the first Diaspora, about 2600 years ago (remeber the OT tale of Daniel in the lions den?). The Romans just took up where the Babylonians had left off.
Anyway, Thomas has been an old gas bag for decades now, and should have bee stripped of her "place" years ago (how Reagan could tolerate her is beyond me, and speaks highly of his character, imo).
Even if she did help fund the so-called flotilla, son't hold your breath waiting for criminal charges (especially treason) to be brought against her by this administration.
