From John Ellis, "The Lies of Obama," in FrontPage Magazine (

When politicians are caught out in lies, their supporters often resort to the old cliché: all politicians lie. But that is itself a lie: most don’t. Even

LOL!!! Fixed it, thanks for pointing it out to me. That's one word in which two little letters make a big difference!
He should have realized early on that some of what he wanted to accomplish would rely on major congressional support and while initially he had a fair amount of that it is shrinking rapidly.
He seems to have assumed that he had won the office of Emperor of America, or perhaps even God-King of the Earth, rather than President of the United States of America. Like Clinton, he made the mistake of trying to focus on domestic rather than foreign achievements, when in fact a US President plays a secondary role to Congress in domestic matters. Unlike Clinton, he still hasn't realized his mistake in that matter.
Brown's election and possibly now a number of moderate dems wanting to keep their seats may just keep him from accomplishing a lot more of what he wanted to get done.
Yes, even before the 2010 Congressional elections change the composition of the Congress toward the right.
Obama may just be a lame duck before the end of his second term due to his broken promises (no one will trust/take him seriously) and also if the repubs win a lot of seats in the mid term elections.
Indeed. He has two powers which will let him check the Republican advance until 2013: these are his veto (there is no way the Republicans are getting a two-thirds majority in 2010, they will be lucky to get a simple majority), and his ability to impede the enforcement of the law by executive agencies. These are purely negative powers, and neither of them will do much to get him re-elected in 2012, especially with an increasingly-hostile Congress watching him like a hawk.
His lack of personal credibility is going to deeply harm him after January 2011. A President with a slim to no Congressional majority can only get things done by persuasion, and he can't make deals if no one takes his promises seriously.
