If the writer means 'all people are racist' then, yes. Duh. People prefer to live, work and associate with people that look and think like they do.

And if she thinks 'whites' have structural racism, then she has not traveled much. Cause the Japanese have that down as an art form.

Luckily for us, the definition of 'look and think like they do' is pretty broad these days. And getting broader.

In ye olde days a foreigner was the bloke from the next village over. In my grandmother's day it was unthinkable to marry outside of your religion. And so forth.

I grew up in a place where the people running things were, in their salad days, supporters of the Klan, if not actual members.

Now, I'm happily married into a large sprawling Italian/Korean/Jewish/Catholic clan. We get along great and the food is awesome.

I contend that the kids growing up today, with parents and a society that checks racisit notions at the door, will have largely put any racist notions to the side. It won't be a choice, it will be who they are.
