Person of Interest (Batman re-imagined)

A preview of geonncannon's upcoming article for Geek Speak Magazine discusses Person of Interest, a show I fell in love with this spring:

geonncannon: "Person of Interest was co-created by Jonathan Nolan. CHRISTOPHER NOLAN'S BROTHER."
Any Bat-fans not watching Person of Interest are missing an amazing alternate-universe retelling of the Batman mythos. It's set entirely in the real world, and the villains are far from the Clayface/Killer Croc variety, but the parallels are unmistakable. Reese is Batman and Finch is Bruce Wayne, separated into two distinct people. Zoe is Catwoman, a semi-trustworthy alley. Carter is Renee Montoya/Commissioner Gordon, the cop who is reluctantly drawn into the mystery of this anonymous vigilante. Fucso is Harvey Bullock. As the first season went on, it became clear that Reese was accumulating a varied rogue's gallery of villains. In Batman, the cops traced reports of "a guy in a cowl and cape." In Person of Interest, Carter is haunted by "a tall guy in a suit." John Reese is the Dark Knight, as envisioned by JJ Abrams.

I would add that Reese and Finch are both convinced of their own inhumanity, while their reluctant Robins, Carter and Fusco, are discovering the world is more complicated, but more beautiful, than they ever realized.

AND THERE IS A JOKER.

The perfect big bad for a city like post-911 New York. Alone, corrupt, swarming with darkness and insanity.

Reese would also make a good Jack Reacher.

Carter is displeased by your shenanigans.

I should have mentioned earlier how gay the show was.

SO GAY.

Finch at his day job. In addition to being a corporate mogul billionaire who runs the world, he's also a crippled computer hacker who specializes in data sorting and vigilantism he can't quite achieve on his own. If there's any allusion in that. I dunno.

Bullock and Batman doing some good and helping some people. As if it matters.

The Animated Series era Good Cop-Bad Cop scenarios are hilarious.

geonncannon thinks grey hat Catwoman is hot, for some reason.

geonncannon: "Aww. I would have used a picture showing her legs for why I think she's hot ;D"
