A group of my friends parents talked about doing a scholarship in my sister, Ashley's, name after she died. Well they finally got it all put together this year. They gave 2 graduating students 500.00 scholarships. One was a guy that the school picked, my sister didnt know him, and the other me, my mom and my dad pciked. She had been friends w/ my sister since we moved here in 1996. My mom was kinda glad that the scholarship thing began this year since this was Ashleys graduating class. So last week we had to go to the highschool bc they wanted my parents to present the award. Becky and Jason, the people that got the scholarships, didnt know they were getting it. They knew they were getting an award but they didnt know what. My mom is the one that spoke, and she did so good. She didnt even cry so i was really proud of her. I had just been praying that she would be strong and get through it. My mom said I could come up there but I didnt, I just stayed where all the other ppl presenting awards were and its a good thing I did bc i dont think I could have even stood up there w/ my parents w/o breaking down. It was hard enough just sitting there. When Becky came down to get the scholarship she was just bawling. She was really honored to get the award. The guy, Jason, talked to my dad after and he told him he was a volunteer fire fighter and he hoped he could save someone someday that was in a car wreck like Ashley. He seemed really nice. So that went pretty good. Next year they are probably going to put on a Valentines dance or something for the high school students to raise money for the scholarships.
Last night we went to Navarre's graduation since Ashley would have graduated this year. That was a whole lot easier to get through than the scholarship thing. Like a whole lot easier! It was packed out. Both sides of the football field were packed full. We didnt even have a seat, so we stood for almost 2 hours. :/ I wish she could have been alive to graduate this year, that would have been awesome, but she is way better off than any of those kids that graduated. Last year we went to the graduation bc my friends matt and mallory's brother, Michael graduated. Well the other guy that was killed in the accident w/ Ashley would have graduated last year so they had an empty seat on the field for him. This year they did the same thing for Ashley. There was a picture of the seat w/ flowers and a ribbon on it in the Pensacola News Journal today. I'm just glad all of that is over though.
Ok on a happier note, 1/2 a day of school left. I am so excited!!!! Tomorrow we have our 8th grade end of the year party!!! YAY! We get to do a field day type thing and just hang out w/ our friends. But its probably gonna be kinda sad too since we wont see a lot of the people next year since some ppl are going to Gulf Breeze. But most of my good friends are going to Navarre so thats good. Then it will be summer! Gosh I'm beyond ready for that!!! Ok thats all for now!!!
