Hagio is a huge inspiration for me, both with her art and her stories. Her stories are thought-provoking, regardless of page count. For example, her 20-page one-shot "The Willow Tree" had me in tears after reading it. Even though her art is pretty old-fashioned--"ancient" as my friends put it--she's still a fantastic artist. I don't know many artists who can make their subjects in very difficult poses look natural and human with very simple lines (plus she draws awesome hands). It's a pity that until now, the only licensed Hagio stories are all out of print, so Fantagraphics releasing an anthology of her short stories is fantastic news for me.
When this book comes out in September 2010, I WILL fucking buy it, and I don't give a shit if people might give it bad reviews (WHAT???). I WILL buy it!
