I am

I am the most uninteresting person I know:

the bubblegum on the sidewalk ;
the paper reciept floating across the parking lot ;
the old tennis shoes she's forgot about ;
a hidden past loved treasure under the bed ;
the pillow taken for granted resting under your head ;
the last can of peas when the recipe calls for corn ;
the bottle routinely picked up when love has left him scorn.

I am a compliation of unwanted things,
beauty in my mold that only an artist sees.
What am I to you? What are you to me?
Their opinion of trash is our secret destiny.

Your worn heels mesh into me and pick me up ;
Your old tires squeak me against the floor and I'm stuck ;
You clean me off and present me as a lie - new;
You remember the treasure and since all you've been through ;
Hugging my folds and sighing as you let the world go ;
Reaching for me with a smile and a plan to follow ;
Rescue me from hate and hang me on the wall -

I am the most uninteresting thing you love at all.
