On the mend. And birthday report!

Feeling a touch better, and had a fine day to boot.  Deposited some birthday dough from Mom & Dad (thank-you M&D!), and got a few much-needed homey things at Lowe's. Came home and took a shower!  Whee!  Dropped off some ibuprofen at my stepdaughter's school because the poor girl needed pain relief.  I'd need pain relief if I had to spend all day in a high school....   Picked up a gift card for my neighbors who just got married.  Had lunch with friends.  Came home and reviewed Zach's Doubt for Austinist, then made dinner.  Not bad!  Wish my damn throat would stop hurting.

My life is riveting, no?  And so linky!

Last night, my husband -- the most fabulous husband on the planet -- made me a gorgeous steak dinner.  His birthday gift to me was an awesome Weber grill.  It is a thing of beauty!  I've wanted a grill for a long time.  Now I have one!  All in the last year or so I got me a big, comfy back porch and a fabulous grill to put on it.  Time for parties!!  Yes, plural!  PartieS!

And last night's dinner...John outdid himself!  Big juicy rib-eye.  Mushrooms sauteed in butter and garlic.  Broccoli with pecorino romano cheese.  Russet potatoes with butter, sour cream, and chives.  Bottle of nice red wine (Penfolds -- don't remember which).  All served on the back porch, on a table with a white tablecloth, on our nice china, in our nice stemware.  With a beautiful arrangement of my favorite flowers, carnations, as the centerpiece.  The weather was beautiful.  The company was handsome and charming. It was so fabulous!

He also got me a pair of James Avery earrings.  I won't link to them because I make it a point not to look up the cost of presents, but they're dainty little gold roses, and I love them!

Oh, and a facial at Viva.  They have the best aestheticians.  I have the best husband.

So, things chug along here.  Birthdays come and go, but we're doing mighty fine in spite of them....
