Fandom: Torchwood
Challenge:
tw100 prompt: open
Characters/Pairings: All team, Captain John and PC Andy included variously
Rating/Warning: 15 tops. Nothing graphic, but naughty words. A mix of angst, humour and gen.
Spoilers: Potential for all
Disclaimer: Nope, I don't own Torchwood
AN: The prompt was to re-visit all old prompts. I put the prompts in a list, numbered them, got my Twitter friends to choose a number and a character and they get a drabble, prompt unknown.
Prompt: global graveyard - Ianto for
tiggerbrasilf He sits in the drafty church, hand clasped together, head bowed. He can feel the heat of Gwen’s shoulder through his coat, warming his left arm, and knows she’ll be doing the same to Jack on the other side.
There have been too many churches lately; too many funerals, too much lost from his life.
And then the daleks came and the world was united in its grief. Across the world graveyards bulged with more bodies, walls were lined some more with plaques for the taken, and at memorials like this across the globe tears were spilt on hallowed ground.
Prompt: locked in a room - John for
steerpikesister John consulted his wrist strap.
“We’re definitely locked in. Door’s reinforced steel and there’s a time lock. Unless Mr Note The Stripes finds us a way out we’re stuck in here for the next…two hours.
“But fortunately for you, I’m a natural born improviser; I can think of a lot of ways to keep us entertained. What d’ya think Eye Candy?”
John turned at the sound of a distinctive click behind him and saw the gun levelled at his chest.
He smirked at the cool eyes focused on him and the casually raised eyebrow.
“I’ll take that as a maybe.”
Prompt: BBC One - Mainframe -
emyrldlady The young woman in front of her is getting very frustrated. She’s waving her arms around a lot.
And shouting. There’s quite a lot of shouting. There’s less shouting from the others. More laughing. Toshiko doesn’t laugh, but she knows.
They keep pressing buttons, playing with wires, the doctor has even suggested hitting her (thanks for preventing that go to the beloved Toshiko).
But she’s in a playful mood so it doesn’t matter what buttons they press or wires they fiddle with her TV channel tuning capabilities are just not going to work tonight…
If she had emotions she’d smile.
Prompt: Christmas - Ianto Jones for The Mortal Poet
It had been a spur of the moment idea; have a birthday party for Jack. The date didn’t matter, the occasion did.
Gwen made them wear party hats, Tosh and Ianto brought too much food.
Now they sat, stuffed, in the boardroom.
Owen and Tosh were bickering. Gwen was acting mother and trying to placate them.
Jack was sat at the end of the table grumbling about outdated celebrations.
Ianto sat in the middle smiling to himself.
It reminded him of Christmas. It reminded him of…family.
“Oi, what are you grinning at?”
“Just got a sudden hankering for brandy butter.”
Prompt: demons - Rhys for
facing_the_wind 9.23pm
It’s fine, she’s just stuck at work.
11.36pm
Okay, it’s going to be one of those really late ones and he should just go to bed.
12.52am
Something must be destroying the world to make her this late.
2.45am
In his head she’s lying broken and bloody somewhere. He used to worry she was warming someone else’s bed when she wasn’t in his. He’s not sure which is worse.
3.18am
He imagines Jack standing on his door step rehearsing what to say.
3.34am
A soft, warm body presses itself into him and with mumbled apologies chases the demons away.
Prompt: life after Torchwood- Andy -
huskyfriends When he’d first heard of them through rumour and gossip he hadn’t liked the sound of them at all.
Then they took his Gwen from him and he disliked them even more.
He had watched Gwen change, become a different person and flinched each time she kicked him. And he hated Torchwood then.
He’d been bitter and jealous and angry and just wanted them and their flashy coats and super cars and secretive ways out of his life.
But then the world had changed and he had changed and now that Torchwood was gone he wondered how to carry on.
Prompt: children- Owen for
huskyfriends A cry rang from the med bay and resonated around the Hub.
“I’m not going back down there.” Owen stated flatly.
“You have to, it’s calling for you.” replied Gwen, the humour clear in her voice.
“She’s right,” Jack chipped in, “It saw you first when it hatched so now you’re mama.”
Another wave of giggling swamped Tosh and Gwen, earning a scowl from Owen.
Ianto called over from his workstation; “If it helps I’ve checked the database and this species doesn’t require breast feeding. Just lots of snuggles.”
“Fuck off all of you.”
Laughter followed Owen as he left.
Prompt: poety - Tosh for
luvinthe88and20 It was a rare moment of downtime.
Ianto was slumped on the sofa, held tilted back, reciting borrowed words. Gwen was curled up next to him and Jack leant against the wall, eyes closed, listening. Even Owen had paused to hear.
No-one looked at her, no-one expected her to care about the words falling from his lips. And at one time that would have been true; numbers and equations all the poetry she had needed.
But now, listening to his voice as it resonated gently in the air, the words fell into place, solving problems she never knew she had.
