It was human nature; he couldn’t help it. It was ingrained in the human physiology and psyche from the earliest days of man. Which, incidentally, he had seen.
It was involuntary; the body filled with endorphins and overrode the brain, making the body move without conscious thought being involved.
Breathing quickened, the heart rate increased, body temperature rose, the digestive system was shut down, the senses became heightened.
So he wasn’t surprised that when the team’s lives had been threatened his fight or flight instinct had kicked in.
What had surprised him was how hard he was willing to fight.
