Ramble on the state of Sir Limpsalot.

This whinge comes to you in the guise of a status update.

It is nearly three weeks since I dislocated my knee and tore two ligaments. Well, I say two. The hospital diagnosed one by poking my knee, but I also have pain in the same area of my knee that I did when I tore a different ligament in my other knee so I think I may have done two of them. Go me.

The pain is still ridiculous. I gave in and have gone onto two lots of prescription pain meds. I keep saying they are not making a difference, but it’s prob more likely that I just don’t want to know what it would feel like without them. I am back at work as working from home was just too difficult, but my boss has agreed to me leaving early when the pain gets too bad. Basically, sitting at my desk with no support for my leg and knee get unbearable by about 3pm. I end up leaving work about half four, but it’s better than nowt. I did ask oc health if they had anything to help me and someone came down, built a pile of boxes under my desk, folded my coat over it and said “there you go.” Um…yeah…

The other prob is that the pain killers are mild depressants which is why I resisted them in the first place, so I am having to battle a bit to keep myself up. By which I mean I am writing (and reading) a lot of pron. Whatever gets you through, right?

I’m also exhausted most of the time. I’m not sleeping brilliantly and just the effort of getting around is harder than normal and taking more out of me. On the flip side I am getting stroppy that I’m not able to get any proper exercise. Never bloody happy me. However, I will have biceps of STEEL by the end of this. I am quite heavy. All that on my arms? Better than any gym!

However, I am able to start weight bearing a little better. I still use two crutches most of the time, but at home am getting around by limping and leaning on things and at work I get around the office on just one a lot of the time. I am considering growing stubble, getting cantankerous and making people call me House.

I am off to SFX Weekender next weekend and am absolutely gutted that I won’t be dancing. Craig Charles is doing his funk and soul night again and it was one of the main reasons I was so keen to go again. Instead of being in the middle of the dancing masses I may have to settle for vigorous chair dancing.

However, it has opened up a new cosplay opportunity for me. I am three pieces away from having a First Doctor’s cosplay outfit sorted, complete with cane! I figured if I was going to be hobbling it would be cool to incorporate it. On the other day I am likely to just be Connor Temple with a crutch. Well, the boy gets whumped a lot, it must have happened at some point, right?

Being on crutches and being out and about has also taught me a lot about other people and society today. I may bleat about this in a separate post sometime.

Toodle pipsky.
