The powers that be
Could never understand
The angry young man
And the wayward soul
For we speak far beyond
What stars do see
Your Coffee God commands
Connor stared at the screen. He thought for a brief moment that Ianto had lost it, but then he got the meaning and grinned. He pulled his personal laptop over to him and opened a new email.

You’re still using that old email address? You’ll be telling me you still rate AOL next. J
It’s really good to hear from you Ianto. I hope I didn’t cause too much trouble looking for you. It’s not like when I Googled you I expected to trip off some sort of weird inter-super-secret-organisation security incident.
But look at you! Torchwood! I can’t believe it exists. Well actually I can. I always knew here had to be something. Didn’t I always say there was something out there? Oh my god, wait. Have you seen aliens? Have you met aliens? Oh, you have to tell me EVERYTHING. This just proves that I was right! I always knew we weren’t alone. Is it true though; were aliens on Earth before humans? Oh this would explain so much.
Don’t worry though, anything you tell me I won’t tell anyone. I’m used to keeping secrets now. The work I do I have to keep quiet about. No one knows about it.
I hope you didn’t mind me trying to find you. It was really nice bumping into you the other day. I always really enjoyed the time we spent together, you were a good laugh. And you were always so cool, with the singing and the poetry and everything. It really surprised me to see you all decked out in a suit. Do you dress like that all the time now? How practical is a suit for alien catching? The only person who wears a suit here is my boss Lester. He’s alright sometimes, but he can be pretty hard work.
I guess you like your boss better ;) Other than him reading your messages that is.
Anyway, after seeing you it just got me thinking that, you know, we’d been pretty good mates and had a good time. And I could always talk to you. You listened and never took the piss. Not like most people. Even Tom and Duncan laughed at me. Do you remember them? Well Tom died a while back. Got bitten by an infected dodo. It was rough there for a while, but so much was happening; I’d just got a new job and there was this girl, who isn’t really a girl, but I thought she might have been. I mean, she is really a girl, but not my girl. Even if I’d like to I don’t think she does. She’s the one I said I was living with? That’s what I meant by it being complicated.
And then a couple of weeks ago my friend Stephen was killed. He died trying to protect the rest of us. It was awful and it’s put so much strain on our team ‘cause now we’re down one person, and Stephen and the Professor - that’s the guy I work for, like the guy I really work for, not Lester - had had this whole thing about Nick’s wife Helen, so they had gone from being best friends to barely talking. So Stephen’s death has hit Nick really hard so everything’s kinda weird around here at the moment.
Losing someone makes you think and I just thought that we’d been good mates and you can never have too many friends right? So I thought I’d take a chance and see if I could get in touch. And, well, the rest you know.
Um…this got a bit longer than I meant it to sorry. Was meant to just say hi. Hi?
So tell me what is going on in the life of Ianto? And about the aliens. Tell me about the aliens.
Connor
