Typhoon Ondoy
Friday night ... it was announced that there is a typhoon.
Saturday morning ... my sister kept on calling my neice's school to verify if the field trip was still on. My mom chaperoned my neice in the said field trip. At 1PM, 10 buses filled with children and their chaperones stalled at Zapote in Las Pinas, where Coastal is.
We called the Las Pinas government to help out but they said that it was out of their control because that area is already Cavite's jurisdiction. Called Cavite government and they said that they are attending to more grave concerns and they will do what they can as soon as they get their hands free. Cool!!!
My mom and neice were stranded in that area for 8 hours without food, water and toilet. My sister and brother-in-law took their jeep and went to the ther side of the zapote bridge, walked all the way to the other side and walked to the bus under waist high water. Took my neice over my bro-in-laws shoulders and my mom dipped in the water and waded back to the car. They got out of there at 9:30pm and got home (because of the flod and traffic) at 11:30pm.
Sunday morning...my mom sent me an sms and asked me if I was available to go to my aunt's house in Marikina. My aunt's house was chest high in water and all her stuff on the ground floor were ruined by the flood. The flood was not just water and dirt, it came with mud.
Left Paranaque at 10:30 am and arrived in Marikina at 2:30pm. Brought food for my aunt and cousin. There are no stores open for them to buy food from. Even SM Marikina was used to be a relocation site for the people in the vicinity. Passing by Marcos highway, there were cars still on the road, probably left by the owners who opted to go home and leave the cars behind. There were cars on top of each other too. The flood may have made them float and go down on each other's bumpers. The sidewalks were filled with people walking all muddy and wet.
To those of us who were not gravely hit by Ondoy, we are blessed.
I have been trying to get in touch with Ron since Friday but he has not returned my sms until today. I hope he is ok.
