"The world's but a stage. Kingly is he who struts for a while, then exits in style!"

Hi, I'm here again, I haven't disappeared from the internet. :D

I'm a real masochist. I promised to participate in a national chemistry exam which is actually a competition to see who are the best little chemists in Finland. I have to be in the top ten of Finland if I want to win anything. I'm completely sure I'm not that good so my aim is to be the best in our school. Since I'm doing the basic level test and there aren't many participants, I think my goal is reachable. If I study my chemistry books, that is. The exam is on Thursday, wish me luck!

I finished Iljimae yesterday. It was such an amazing drama, I'm a bit sad it ended. D: Finally I understood all the characters' relationships with each other. You have to look for long and hard if you want to find a family tree as messed up as theirs. My favorite pairing, Ryung/Bong Soon, sort of lost to Ryung/Eun Chae in the end but at least their kissing scene was better than Ryung/Eun Chae's! Bong Soon gets what she wants, I must admit. (Read: rape is ok when it is female on male.)

Lee Jun Ki was the most handsome thing ever a great actor in Iljimae so I started looking for his other stuff too. Time Between Dog and Wolf and Fly, Daddy, Fly are still downloading but I watched The King and the Clown today. You know what that means, right?

So, The King and the Clown is a movie about two clowns who make satiric plays of the lives of the King and his ministers. The Palace hears about these plays and threatens to kill the clowns for mocking the King. The only way the clowns can keep their lives is to make the King laugh with their play. They success and the King hires them as his own entertainers. But when the clowns' plays get harsher and the slightly insane King finds himself being infatuated with the other clown, drama happens.

Jang Seng and Gong-gil are those two clowns. Jang Seng is mature and rational and takes care of Gong-gil who is more sensitive and outpretties every female character in this movie.

The King is scary and bloodthirsty and he has some serious daddy issues. He gets obsessed of Gong-gil and invites him often to his chamber.

When the King is in a good mood, he and Gong-gil play with finger puppets. (And may I say, Lee Jun Ki's pretty hands are challenging Ohno's hands.) But when the King is not in a good mood...

...the using of angst clichés starts with knives and wrists.

Nok Su is the King's concubine and she really dislikes Gong-gil. She hates that Gong-gil is getting more attention from the King than she is and wants Gong-gil out of the picture.

I think she's just jealous of his prettiness.

I'm shipping these two so hard. Come on, this whole film has homosexual references, I have the right!

The film never says that they're lovers but at least they have a strong bond that keeps them together. Love or friendship, I don't care!

Even the fortune teller tells them to break up. Jang Seng replies that they aren't even married. He's avoiding the subject!

Yes, this is what I do with my friends on the weekend. They're so cute! Jang Seng is teaching a pile of clothes Gong-gil a lesson about hitting him in the head.

Wouldn't you root for them too?

No, I don't have anything more to add. I just had to put this picture up because LJK is too beautiful. 8D

The King and the Clown was actually quite a good movie. I only highlighted the slashy King/Gong-gil/Jang Seng love-triangle but the film has more than just that. The characters are deep and the plot is exciting. It's amazing to see how the actor who plays the King can change from a playful and humorous man to a cruel and impulsive killer. Lee Jun Ki acts really well and his crying scenes aren't as embarrassing to watch as in Iljimae. I think LJK became famous because of his role. The humor of this movie can be quite... indecent when the clowns make fun of the King's and ministers' private lives. I mean, I watched this movie with the door shut. 8D Here is a trailer if you would like to see it.
