Had this awesome Gujarati Thali today. I am so stuffed, its really difficult to keep my eyes open and work. Thank god its Friday and there are no deadlines to meet.
I had been to a place called Laxmi Thali, very close to Andheri station(West). It is easy to miss if you dont know what to look for. There is a small board outside and you have to weave your way in through a clothes market. The hotel is on the 2nd floor. It is a small place with seating for about 20 odd people only. But the service is excellent and the food is piping hot. The phulkas are as close to what you would get at home...with a generous dollop of ghee on top. My favourite is the Gujarati Kadi that I can have in a glass :). They even have Khichdi.
People away from home will find this a great place to have food as close to what mom makes at home. For Rs.150 + taxes, it is a very cheap option. A must visit if you are anywhere close to Andheri in Mumbai's western suburbs. And of course make sure you skip breakfast before you come here, to do full justice to the food..:)
