My parents are divorced - have been since sometime in the mid-1980's.
My father is a fantastic handyman who constantly encourages the DIY attitude. I've learned much, in terms of carpentry, car mechanics, and other areas. He also taught me to think things through before acting.
My mother is a wonderful, loving individual who always tries to be helpful to her kids. She's a great cook and makes sure we never go hungry. Even though I've moved out, she still acts motherly in a significant way.
I can't complain. I have great parents.
This isn't the most entertaining entry, so I'll add my parents' best quotes:
Father, 10-15 years ago: "Stick with me, kid, and I'll have you farting through silk."
Father, today: "Stick with me, kid, and I'll have you fucking shit up in no time."
Mother, 2005ish: "Be careful. I'm worried you're going to drive straight in the volcano." (she meant hurricane, but we certainly pointed out the mistake.)
