The Cure's Curiosa festival was tonight, and sadly Muse's bassist had a hand injury, and could not be there. I was worried that would ruin the festival for me, because they were the reason I was so eager to be there. But gladly Mogwai got to play a longer set, and completly blew me away. Everyone walked away from that saying "Man I can't hear a thing!" They were better than I thought they would be.
Pro's
-Mogwai's loud set
-Melissa Auf Der Maur's band was very heavy, and was fun and easy to headbang to.
-I got introduced to Cooper Temple Clause. I tried to buy their CD at the FYE stand, but they were sold out.
-Even though they didn't play I got a Muse T-Shirt
-I met a guy wearing a Cave In shirt, and we talked about the band, and it turns out that he flew down from Paris to see Muse play! OUCH.
Con's
-The Cure sounded dull. The happy songs weren't uplifting, and the depressing songs were just boring. TURN YOUR GUITARS UP! All I could hear was the bass and Robert Smith. Every now and then a really loud piano would come in. But the guitars were barely audible at parts.
-The Rapture and Interpol were absolutely terrible. We actually left to get food, or to get up front at the second stage during these two bands.
-Head Automatica wasn't terrible, but they were pretty unmemorable. Very flamboyant band.
