The longest stretch is over

The thing that always strikes me the most whenever I get home on a break is how my ears are ringing when I get to bed and I hear them so loudly in the absolute void silence. It's really amazing how quiet it is here and I would take that peace over loud fans and cars driving by any night of the week. After I get adjusted though, it's like living in a state of serenity, and I feel like I accomplish a lot more sleep by the time the morning comes, even if I don't want to get out of bed.

Anyway, that's right, I'm home. I haven't written anything substantial in here since January, which means February was left entirely alone. And that's really too bad, because February was quite eventful.

A) Got pledges for TKE. They're a great group of guys who are pretty excited about the stuff. Even if I get frustrated once in a while with being late or whatever, it's my job to do so. Things have been moving pretty smoothly along so far, and they all seem to idolize me for whatever reason they see fit. Murdock is once again having them draw pictures in order to get interviews similar to last semester, but this time the choice is an adjective + either me or him. Unfortunately for Murdock, there has been only 1 drawing of him. I guess I have a couple characteristic features that are easy to draw?

B) ICCA for Staam. Took a road trip with the kids to Missouri State. My car was Meredith, Megan, and Ben, which ruled - mostly because of me and ben singing to each other or playing games in the back seat. Even though we rehearsed a lot, I feel like the experience was very similar to my first actuarial exam attempt. No matter how many youtube videos we watched of other groups, or what we knew about how the judges graded, we would never be fully prepared until we had actually done it once. I think we learned a lot and had a lot of fun on the trip, but god help me if I have to sing one of those 3 songs again any time soon.

C) Jonny Friedman Orchestra/Abrahammer concert. This was just plain awesome. We managed to get together 2 very very awesome bands, DM did great job with sound, Ursa's Fireside was a great venue... everything just worked out. I really enjoyed watching Ben and Brett play, too, so I'll be looking forward to when that video is online. When it was my turn to go up, I had Megan introduce me (this part's not on the video for whatever reason), and she had this little speech that ended with, "the incredibly talented... AND incredibly attractive... Jonny Friedman!" and it was awesome. Anyway, I won't bore you with details. Go watch the video!

And now I'm home for break. Such a good feeling. Gotta figure out what I'm doing. Mom 'n Dad are going down to Florida for Dad's medical conference, so I'm staying here and taking care of the house. Yes, my parents did invite me to join them, but I feel like I needed more of an at-home vacation. After the longest stretch of time between hanging out with parents people (winter to spring break), I just felt like I needed to be home. The Florida days can come later. Maybe. Anyway, I'll be taking care of kittypants and hanging out with the Minnesota people in the meantime and it will be the furthest thing from unpleasant.
