Hey hey,
How are you all? I'm doin well, though I feel a little lonesome right now, it's okay though. I know it'll go away before the night is through (I hope).
This Wednesday is this semester's recital for the School of Arts at Cristo Reina. This time around I'm much more involved than I was last semester cuz I dont have AAFES bringing me down. If you're around Guaynabo and wanna stop by it'll be a good time. Lets see...
I'm gonna be playing a blues with some of the guys from church based on the Lamb that was lost from it's flock. It's pretty smooth...though a little rough in it's composition...still it's Blues and it's got a great groove and feeling. Aside from that I'm presenting my students in 2 waves. The first is going to be 2 students from my older group of kids. I composed a simple piece of music that they're gonna play in unison changing around the dynamic so as to give it some strength and softness when necessary. The second wave will be my Student Erick. He came from la escuela libre de musica, so he's had a deep interest in most of the latin stuff I was teaching 'em. So he's gonna play 2 basic latin rhythms on the drum set, the AfroCubano and the Rumba. Both which were derived from the "Son." After that it'll be a little surprise. I'll hop on the set and play a 3/2 Salsa Rhythm and Erick is gonna go over to the Timbales and solo a bit.
Overall it'll be a fun night. However, it just so happens that the recital is on the same night as my sister's Spring Concert at the middle school so I feel pretty shitty about not being able to see her you know? Oh well...not the first time I've let down and been let down too. Anywayz, changing that subject. I got an A (90%) on my last History and Philosophy test. I was quite surprised! I thought I hadn't done so well. I just hope that the final turns out just as good since it's said that that class is the most difficult out of the education classes one needs to be a teacher. So I'm hoping everything turns out okay. I'll admit I've been a bit lazy lately with studies and practicing...but at the same time I feel pretty confident about my knowledge thus far. Either which wasy I'll be studying relentlessly the next few days.
Anywayz, aside from that I'm just chillin'. L went back to Mayaguez on Saturday so she's back in her room enjoying the freedom that Mayaguez offers. I just hope it doesnt take a long time before we get to see each other. Either way, things have taken an interesting turn for the better as always and she keeps me lovin' her like none other. Te amo beba.
G'night ya'll
