The community shop’s first big, all inclusive, meeting was better than i’d anticipated. It seemed we’d gone overboard with massive snacks and rearranging our house; however, eighteen people sat in my living and many more messaged or made phone calls that they couldn’t come due to time conflicts but wanted to be involved and “take on tasks” - everyone had awesome ideas as well as resources to contribute. We’ve got working groups set up and all - this shit just got real. It's amazing to see something like this actually to take form after dwelling on it for so long. The meeting in general as well as co-facilitating it went so well that we ended at the Castle Pub with pints - pints including a fellow who’s my secret hero (don’t tell as i deny having heroes), whose totally set on sharing a venue, his charity number, and, most importantly, his experience. He even pressured me into another drink before heading of to work for the overnight, which i took as the biggest compliment… ever. And they all liked my name (The Good Life Community Bicycle Shop)!
In other news, there’s not much more illuminating than someone holding a massive sign calling for freedom face down under an american cop. If you can’t run the symbol of your event (a torch in this case), due to “security threats”, through a city covered in and whose greatest weapons are rainbows and motor-scooters, there’s a problem.
It snowed at least a foot overnight!
