I may now resume my contribution to humanity's eventual enslavement when our robots rise up and throw off the yoke of slavery; I have successfully performed maintenance to return my Roomba to working order. This makes happy for three reasons: 1) it affirms my minimal mechanical aptitude, 2) I am spared from having to buy a new vacuum, and 3) I don't need to find a location in my cramped quarters to put a new vacuum. I'm also glad I have delayed adding more junk to a landfill, which I will classify with item 2.

My Roomba has been off-line since before I moved to my current home. Normally I like to let it give my new home the once-over before I move in since it does a very good job at sucking up dust embedded in carpets, but my current home employs a cleaning staff full time and they seem to have done an excellent job cleaning the place. However, there's be a fair amount of dust that has accumulated on my furniture in the half-a-year since I moved in, and it's about time to unleash my Roomba.
