Stupid TV

Ok, so somehow over the weekend, my AV inputs on my current tv died on me, so no wii for now.

My tv is a 20 inch CRT, my monitor is a 17 inch crt. and I am looking to upgrade both into one unit.
prefer an LCD right now

looking at either Viewsonic 32 inch or Phillips 23 inchthese seem to be the two that I can currently afford the most, I will want ( Read more... )

I see you found your plumber's snake.

I'd go with ViewSonic. They have (or used to have, back when I was in the market for that sort of thing) an excellent reputation, and it has an HDMI input for when you get a real console want to hook up an HD device.

I will keep that in mind, and will do a bit more research.
The wii can do 480p, that is like almost pretty good, right? =)

And I will buy a 360 long before I get a ps3.

Hrm, looks like the viewsonic does not have dvi, but only hdmi, need to do a bit more research on that. (would a converter work well enough to go from dvi > hdmi)

hdmi is a subset of dvi. I have dvi out on my mac mini and the other end of the cable is an hdmi connectior. Plugs right in to the tv and the computer recognizes it as a monitor all easy-peasy. The cables are pretty standard.

Both are around 1366 x 768p res which is 760p/1080i so you should be fine with that.

Personally I would go for the 32 since watching 4:3 on a widescreen 23" will make the picture really small. Much more like a 17" or something.
