Happy New Year!

Jan 04, 2017 08:15

I had actually posted this on my Facebook. It should sit on here as well, as it really does cover my 2016 and where my head is at now. So, enjoy :)

This year has to have been easily one of the worst years I have had in a long time. What with fighting depression due to my neck injury, failing at buying a house, falling into a financial crisis, and nearly giving myself an ulcer due to it during the first half of the year to dealing with my apartment flooding, and nearly losing my graduate school progress due to Dowling's closure in the second half all while dealing with a failing relationship throughout most of it, I could definitely see why I feel that way.

I spent the majority of my day yesterday reflecting on everything that has passed this year, and even though it all sounds negative, all I could think about is the wonderful people in my life that have stuck by me through it all. I have a great deal of love in my life, and I always have. Over the years, I have never lost sight of that, and I will never allow myself to, no matter how dark and bleak life may get. Love is the most important thing to me, and the people close to me in my life make it so easy for me to devote myself to it. You people know who you are, and I couldn't be more blessed to have you in my life to share that love. Whether you have been in my life since we were little kids, adulthood, or we have only recently gotten close, words cannot describe how grateful I am to have you in my life.

Many of you keep telling me that "2017 will be the year of Jon / Belf", and I disagree. I don't want it to be about me. I want it to be about love and compassion. I want it to be about people opening their hearts to the love in their lives and to stop focusing on the negativity that consumes them. I learned this lesson so many years ago and I want other people to be able to learn and do the same. The world would become a much brighter place.
Here is to a far more positive new year, filled with love and compassion. I am looking forward to growing my relationships, both old and new, with you wonderful people.

P.S. Let's all take a moment and acknowledge that my first picture post of 2017 is NOT of food.
