I'm having a rather sentimental day, so I wanted to start a discussion on how we all came to like SHINee and our respective favourite members (although we're here, it doesn't have to be Jonghyun, of course)!
characteristics of jjong stans: sentimentality (´°̥̥̥̥̥̥̥̥ω°̥̥̥̥̥̥̥̥`)
I feel like I talk about my origin story with SHINee often, but I don't know why; it's really boring. SNSD was my gateway into kpop in the summer of 2010. I think the first time I probably clapped my eyes on SHINee was one of the idol specials of Star Golden Bell where they were guests alongside SNSD (090815) but they didn't make an impression on me. I remember thinking Jonghyun was the token normal-looking one though (not normal as in average-looking; normal as in... looking like a normal person and not so idol-tastically groomed lol). Also, this was back when I didn't know better than to avoid omona, so as I trawled around on there I'd see them mentioned a fair amount. But I didn't pay attention to them until I saw the Lucifer dance practice vid. I thought it was so rad, then, recalling that omona would always mention SHINee when they talked about good live performers, I skipped the MV (in retrospect: good job self lol) and looked up a live performance. I watched this one (100813) and this time, Jonghyun really stood out to me. I thought he was such a strong performer, and that long note really impressed me. Then I looked him up on youtube and I started to watch everything, then I started to google stuff like "shinee jonghyun picspam" and "shinee jonghyun interview" and "shinee jonghyun primer"... "shinee jonghyun meta"... "shinee jonghyun jawline"... It was all over for me within a week.
I never understand why people say that Jonghyun is hard to like or anything like that, because I started following SHINee almost completely because of him - no one else 'sparked' for me in that live performance - and I remember thinking that this boy was an embarrassment of riches. There was just SO MUCH to him to love. Radio covers, interviews, the UFO replies, fancams, Hello Baby, his voice, his laugh, his genuineness, his sense of humor, his versatility, etc... I was really beside myself for a longcat time, eating up all the data I could. Everything I read and saw made me love him more.
I feel like I should link something more... This was one of my favorite videos to watch as a new stan. I love ruach.
re: RDD: I was BLOWN AWAY that he made the blond hair look good. He was so so so beautiful then; the colors of him were too gorgeous for real life. IA that Jonghyun must've been, at the least, the first person to catch newcomers' eyes. I totally think of RDD as his era.
re: Incomplete & "Amazing Voice Korean Boy Singing Sisqo's Incomplete". I REMEMBER THAT! It made me feel so proud lol. I also like seeing Sungmin gawp at him in the middle of the song. :')

(p.s.: I don't mind at all! I love Minho so much ; u ;)
Oh, yes, I remember one of the prevailing omona "facts" at the time when I was just getting into them was that they never made mistakes - in that one show where Key was talking about how he inhaled smoke, missed passing back Taemin's microphone, &c. there were comments like "omg almighty key makes/admits to making mistakes?!" (This was before people called him a diva omg I can't even imagine anymore)
Lucifer feels like (and I guess is) such a long time ago now! I remember staying up ("staying up," as I was in Asia) waiting for the MV and literally when I was about to give up and go to bed when it came out and I had literally explosive feelings because even though I didn't like Jonghyun's styling I just wanted to cry about how pointy (lol) and beautiful his face was in 1080p!!
OH THAT SHOOT! I loved it too. I think I spammed it once on my lj lol. I thought they all looked so beautiful, especially Seohyun, even if the hats were a bit much. huhuhuhu the Juliette acoustic is so perfect it hurts huhuhuhuhu
his face was so lean and angular during Lucifer * ^ * too bad about that awful fried hair omg.

I don't really recall what I watched/liked particularly in the earlier days, but I loved their Vogue shoot with Seohyun and their SBS Juliette Acoustic/Ring Ding Dong Remix Gayo performance that year. I love all of SHINee's remixes so much, they're all so good ; o ;
