When Jonghyun wakes up, it feels like he’s suffocating. The air is heavy around him and he realizes he’s sweating. He pulls the blanket down a bit and groans. It feels like his skull is made of cracked glass.
A hand touches his stomach and he rolls over at once to find Kibum propped up on his elbow, staring down at him. The blanket reaches up to the middle of his back, leaving his chest exposed. His hair is tousled, his lips look swollen and Jonghyun blushes when he remembers why. Delirious, Kibum had said. He was only partly wrong.
“Thank you,” is the first thing Jonghyun says; his voice turns out to be in a much better state than it was before. “For saving me. And sorry,” he says lowly, not entirely sure if he’s apologizing for the fall or the kiss. Maybe a bit of both.
“You really scared me,” Kibum answers, apparently disregarding his last comment altogether; maybe it was for the best. “You looked really bad.”
Jonghyun nods to himself and lets his eyes fall back to the coat they’re both lying on. “Sorry,” he mutters again, barely audible. The wind is loud outside; it sounds like a storm.
Kibum shakes his head, hand moving up to Jonghyun’s chest. “It’s okay.”
Jonghyun hums and continues to avoid Kibum’s eyes that he feels are on him, watching him. He refuses to look up even when he feels the other move next to him and feels the blanket slip off.
