i have been gone to there

i've sort of made it a point recently to expand my cinematic hobby (in overcompensation for that withdrawal that was the pandemic) by seeing almost everything that is released (or rereleased) to theaters IN theaters. it's a bit much.

it's a little bit like seeing everything everywhere all at once, which is the one film, above all of the year's crop (thus far, anyway), that i would most stridently recommend seeing theatrically.

an amalgam, spiritually, of crouching tiger, hidden dragon and being john malkovich and say anything [say everything!], and one other major film which i won't spoil, among others, it was the most moving experience for me since jojo rabbit.

two side notes:

the cast is perfect (and wasn't always going to be this same cast, in ways that would've ruined the film)

i have the strongest (strangest) (stringiest?) belief that i fully recall that this film began life as a novel that came highly recommended to me by an ex-girlfriend or girl ex-friend more than a decade ago. i mean truly madly deeply this recollection is lodged in my brain, like i can envsion myself seeing numerous copies of it while browsing at a barnes and noble. but to whatever extent i've since traveled to a different corner of the manyverses, i no longer exist in the manyverse where it was a novel. (or, more likely [some would assert], i am conflating the title of the film with the title of some novel which is actually the novel lodged therein.)

everything everywhere all_at_once, what never happened may have, everybody's a performer, 1001 1001s, 1001 films, what never may have happened, what would you do, what the luck, what it is, what happened never happened, august and everything after, wherefore art thou, everybody's a critic, what on earth!?, what it was, what goes up, what would you have me do, what remains, 1001 masterpieces, everything else is just progress, everything is after noon, what happened happened, novel experiences, what light, what happened will happen
